Family Action is England's leading family charity, supporting over 45,000 families every year. They tackle some of the most complex and difficult issues facing families – including domestic abuse, mental health problems, learning disabilities and
financial hardship.
Formerly called The Family Welfare Association, the charity wanted to shed its old fashioned image and increase its appeal to potential donors. The decision to include the word ‘action’ in the name, with its positive, dynamic connotations, was driven by the desire to reflect its innovative
working practices.
After winning a four-way pitch, the fresh brand included: a robust and powerful logotype that needed to veer way from other traditional ‘family’ charities; colour palettes; art directed and shot image style; typeface and arrow patterns. The brand’s rollout included all items of print including the annual review, themed leaflets, reports, generic leaflets, stationary and guidelines, plus templates and
web consultation.
